Chitra Thangjam

Who am I!?

I am a question that I have been trying to answer

I don’t know exactly how to describe myself

Only that in bits and pieces I find myself,

Which also changes with time and tide

I can say am not a fixed entity,

Different people and situations taste different mees

With some, am like the sugar in your tea

With some, as sour as lemon I act

With some, I laugh till my tears roll,

And with some, I feel like blasting my chillies,

Sometimes, my heart gets really bitter

And it takes time, and a kind heart to stitch back myself

Like the wind and the breeze,

I want to be free,

Free of cages, others and mine

Like Alessia Cara’s song,

“You don’t have to change a thing,

The world could change its heart”

I want to follow, the rhythm of my own heart.

People know me by the name Chitra, ton ton by the kids around me and a clinical psychologist by profession.

I am also a fellow of the Fellowship of community well being and ecological belonging (2025-26), The Well-being Lab, Tezpur.
